Biography

Alicia’s hard work and drive show in her commitment to helping others. As a member of Verrill’s health care team, Alicia represents clients in a wide range of regulatory issues, including HIPAA privacy matters, the Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute, licensing and certification, and fraud and abuse issues and investigations.

Prior to joining Verrill, Alicia served as Manager of the Health Reform Initiative at a Chicago-based maternal and child health nonprofit, EverThrive Illinois. While at EverThrive Illinois, Alicia co-chaired the Governor’s Council for Early Learning SIAC Health subcommittee and conceptualized policies to improve access to comprehensive coverage under Illinois’ Medicaid Managed Care program. Alicia also served as the health and education legislative assistant for U.S. Representative Rush D. Holt (NJ-12), where she was responsible for advising Rep. Holt on policies related to Medicare payment and coverage, pharmaceutical innovation, and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

While in law school, Alicia interned with Health Law Advocates and Community Catalyst, and honed her advocacy skills by representing clients through the Compassionate Release Practicum (for medical parole) and the Boston University Civil Litigation Clinic.

When not at work, Alicia enjoys hiking and exploring New England with her husband, James, and their dog, Mowgli.
