From Saco to the Portland waterfront to Brunswick and beyond, 32 communities in Maine were named to participate in the Qualified Opportunity Zone program adopted under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. Businesses, investors, construction companies, and developers alike might be interested in taking advantage of this new tax benefit, while also investing in the revitalization of these areas and stimulating the local economy. During this presentation, Verrill Dana attorneys Cheryl Johnson, Regina Flaherty, Jennifer Green, and Mark Googins will discuss what the Qualified Opportunity Zone program is, its various requirements and benefits, and what regulations are expected in the future.
