Eggs & Issues: This November - 14 Important Portland Ballot Question

September 14, 2022 at 7:00am
Holiday Inn By The Bay

88 Spring St
Portland, ME 04101

Join us for the first Eggs & Issues of the 2022-23 season for an important and timely discussion on the fourteen ballot questions that will be before voters in Portland this November. Verrill's Jim Cohen will serve as a panelist at this event. This unprecedented number of questions presented by the Democratic Socialists of America and Former Mayor Ethan Strimling builds off similar 2020 referendums which have had devastating impacts on the city. This year, the topics include a proposal to institute one of the highest minimum wages in the country, even more restrictive rent control, restrictions on short-term rentals and cruise ships, as well as a sweeping proposal to get rid of Portland’s City Manager and install a strong mayor in City Hall. This informative event will include a panel discussion with Portland’s leading experts and advocates on employment and housing policies, tourism, and the structure of our city government. Come learn about these issues and how you can be prepared prior to the election in November!

7:00 AM EDT: In-person check-in and coffee at Holiday Inn
7:30 AM EDT: In-person breakfast at Holiday Inn
8:00 AM EDT: In-person program begins
