International Academy of Estate and Trust Law's 2025 Annual Meeting and Professional Program

Join Verrill's Ruth Mattson on May 22nd at the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law's 2025 Annual Meeting and Professional Program in Athens, Greece. Ruth will be on a panel of international experts who will consider the impact of international transparency initiatives and economic substance legislation for practitioners dealing with international trust, tax and estate planning. As part of this, we will consider the introduction of the Corporate Transparency Act in the US, the Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive in the EU, the extent to which information is publicly available in Cayman, BVI, Guernsey and Jersey, and the plans of some offshore financial centers to impose a corporate tax on otherwise untaxed profits in private wealth structures. We will look at some practical examples of the cross-border impact of economic substance legislation with domestic anti-avoidance legislation and the
impact this is having in international tax and estate planning.
