Goose Rocks Beach Litigation

We represent coastal landowners in an appeal pending before the Maine Supreme Court, in which we are challenging a lower court ruling that title to Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport is held by the municipality rather than by the beachfront private property owners. If the lower court ruling were to be upheld, it would establish that municipalities have a background remainder interest to claim title to real estate where a landowner cannot conclusively trace title back to a king’s grant from the 1600s.
