In response to the growing number of clinical trials investigating or incorporating mobile technologies, Verrill Dana and Navigant Consulting will host, "A Fitness Check for Mobile Technology Trials: Select Challenges & Pitfalls," on Friday, April 28 from 9:30 to 11:00am at MassBio.

During the complimentary presentation, Verrill Dana attorneys Emily Chi Fogler and Andrew Rusczek, and Navigant Consulting Director Scott Thiel, will describe select key challenges and pitfalls associated with the use of mobile technologies that can delay, derail, or undermine a trial, including challenges from regulatory, industry, and institutional perspectives. The speakers will discuss strategies for addressing these challenges.

"Issues such as data reliability, privacy, and human subject protections arise in all clinical research, but they have unique application in the context of mobile apps, sensors, and the like, given the power of these technologies to capture new forms of personal data," explained Fogler. "Anticipating and addressing these issues is critical to avoid jeopardizing a company's or institution's investment in a trial that relies on these technologies."
