Verrill Expands Boston Office Space

July 28, 2022 Press Releases

(July 28, 2022) – Verrill is pleased to announce that it has combined all of its Massachusetts personnel into the firm’s primary office at One Federal Street in Boston, following the combination with Rackemann, Sawyer, & Brewster earlier this year.

“We have been looking forward to the move since the combination with Rackemann was announced,” said Jim Durham, Verrill’s Chief Operating Officer. “While we primarily used virtual meetings to support integration initially, we can now enjoy the great energy that radiates between all of our professionals in the state as they come together to collaborate under one roof,” Durham added.

Verrill originally moved to One Federal Street in 2018. This is the second time that the firm has expanded within the building to support its growth. The newly renovated and expanded offices provide more space for administrative functions, collaboration across practices, and advanced technology for enhanced security, and virtual meetings. With the expansion, Verrill’s Boston office space is now comprised of 38,848 square feet, and includes space for 108 professionals, in addition to offices for lawyers who primarily work remotely or are visiting from another firm office. Verrill is operating on a hybrid in-office schedule of two-days per week.

“After an exhaustive search for its new Boston offices in 2019, One Federal Street proved to be a great fit for a growing law firm like Verrill. From the initial tour, Tishman Speyer has been a valued partner with us, and to Verrill as they continue to grow their Boston footprint,” said JLL Executive Managing Director Benjamin Heller.

“We are thrilled we could accommodate Verrill’s desire to expand within One Federal Street following their combination with Rackemann,” added Tishman Speyer Managing Director Jeff Moore. “We look forward to serving Verrill’s entire Massachusetts team, all of whom will benefit from One Federal’s prime Financial District location as well as its best-in-class infrastructure and amenities program.”

Verrill moved beyond its Portland, Maine roots to open a Boston office in 2004 and has grown significantly since then. The firm has nearly doubled its Boston presence, not only as the result of the combination with Rackemann, but also by welcoming a number of new and experienced lawyers in key sectors, such as health care, real estate, corporate, and trust and estates. The firm also opened a Westport, Connecticut office in 2015 in furtherance of its strategy to be a leading New England regional law firm.
