On October 14, Portland Press Herald published an article, "Portland voters to decide on $15 minimum wage, plus hazard pay," discussing the provision requiring time-and-a-half pay for specific employees during the state's declared emergency. This could raise the minimum wage to $18 in December. Attorney Jim Cohen was quoted in the article, stating, “It doesn’t take long for that kind of wage to drive businesses out of Portland and we wouldn’t have the option of repealing it on an emergency basis.”
