Verrill Dana Recognizes Mark Borreliz for His Public Service with Firm's Annual Roger A. Putnam Community Service Award
(November 16, 2016) – Verrill Dana announces attorney Mark Borreliz as the 2016 Roger A. Putnam Community Service Award recipient for his charitable work and, in particular, his public service efforts with hemophilia advocacy organizations.
"It's a huge and unexpected honor to receive this recognition," said Borreliz. "Roger Putnam's example of lifelong grace and service to others is untouchable, and I'm proud to be in a community of so many people who strive to carry it on."
Borreliz has served on the Board of Directors of the National Hemophilia Foundation for three years and is currently the organization's Secretary. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the New England Hemophilia Association and earlier this year was a team leader in the New England Hemophilia Walk, raising more than $5,250 for the cause. Borreliz also spends time meeting with medical students, researchers and companies developing relevant drug therapies to educate them on the experiences of those living with hemophilia. In addition, he is known around the firm for his commitment to "daily service," such as adopting and raising numerous homeless animals over the years and purchasing space heaters for the attendants in his garage who had no heat during an especially cold winter.
"We are proud of our staff and attorneys who continue our long tradition of giving back and strengthening our communities," said K.C. Jones, Managing Partner of Verrill Dana. "We thank Mark in particular for his commitment to serving his community and others in a selfless and thoughtful manner. We hope that his efforts inspire others to support the causes that are important to them."
Verrill Dana created The Roger A. Putnam Community Service Award in 2014 in honor of Verrill Dana attorney Roger Putnam, whose more than 50 years of service to the firm have exemplified the ideals of service to the community and to the legal profession. The award is given annually to recognize a Verrill Dana attorney or staff member who embodies the spirit of community service through volunteerism, leadership inside or outside the firm, fundraising and advocacy.
