Whistleblower Attorney Says Shield 'Came Up With' FCA Scheme
Verrill Dana attorney Paul Shaw was recently quoted in an online article featured in the publication Law360 entitled "Whistleblower Attorney Says Shield 'Came Up With' FCA Scheme." The article discusses a recent whistleblower case in which employees of the medical device company Coloplast accused the company of organizing an alleged kickback scheme.
The three whistleblowers involved in the Coloplast case are fighting to keep Shield Medical Inc., a California medical device company, in their False Claims Act lawsuit. The relators of the lawsuit are represented by Verrill Dana attorneys Paul Shaw, Cecilie MacIntyre, and Joanna Bowers.
According to the article, Paul Shaw argued "that former Coloplast Corp. employees sued Shield, among numerous other incontinence-related medical supplies and distributors, because the California company played a major role in an alleged kickback scheme in which Coloplast gave illicit discounts to partners who converted customers to Coloplast."
