Few Law Enforcement Departments Practice Drug-Testing

On May 7, the Portland Press Herald published an article, "Few police officers in Maine are tested for drugs," explaining that not many law enforcement departments practice universal drug-testing policies, which was shown in February when a Lewiston Police Officer died of acute fentanyl intoxication. Labor and employment attorney Tawny Alvarez stated, "Maine is highly regulated in this sense... If someone tests positive for drugs as an employee, you can't just dismiss them."
