Verrill Dana Elects Six New Partners

(January 23, 2018) – Verrill Dana is pleased to announce that six of the firm's attorneys have been elected to partner, including Tawny Alvarez, Emily Chi Fogler, Benjamin Ford, Nate Hull, Misti Munster and Taylor Neff.

Tawny Alvarez centers her practice on the understanding that the employment landscape is ever-changing – from medical marijuana's effect on drug testing to the effect of social networking in the workplace and mobile devices' effect on wage and hour issues. Her experience clerking for judges across the country at the trial court level and at the Third Circuit Court of Appeals has provided her with valuable insight on the ins and outs of litigation. Alvarez is also Chair of the firm's Breweries, Distilleries and Wineries Group, as well as the editor of the firm's labor and employment blog, Taking Care of HR Business and the firm's beverage blog, Lawyers on Tap. She received her bachelor's degree from Thomas College, summa cum laude, and her law degree from Pace University School of Law, magna cum laude.

Emily Chi Fogler, a member of Verrill Dana's Health Care Group, is a clinical research lawyer who brings a unique "inside perspective" to her practice, having served for over a decade as senior in-house counsel for human research matters to a large Boston health system and its academic medical centers and institutional review boards (IRBs). She advises institutions and biopharma companies on a range of issues and matters arising in the conduct, sponsorship, and oversight of clinical research, including human subjects protection, HIPAA privacy, FDA regulatory compliance, sponsored and collaborative research agreements, international collaborations, and cooperative IRB review arrangements. She is a regular and nationally recognized speaker on these topics. Fogler received her bachelor's degree from Williams College, summa cum laude, and her law degree from Harvard Law School,cum laude, where she served as an Executive Editor of the Harvard Law Review.

Benjamin Ford focuses his practice on all aspects of international maritime and employment law, with a great deal of experience in litigation. He advises his clients along the belief that with the right policies in place, employment laws can provide a structure for success, rather than an impediment to profits. With a unique interest and perspective into new opportunities in the North Atlantic, Ford also counsels clients on how to expand into the Arctic in a responsible, sustainable and profitable way. Ford received his bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire, summa cum laude, and his law degree from the Vanderbilt University Law School.

Nate Hull's extensive work on behalf of trustee clients has enabled him to develop a widely recognized practice advising those people entrusted to administer the assets of others, including federal receivers. He is a member of the panel of chapter 7 trustees for the District of Maine and, along with the firm's Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Group, is honored to have been selected to manage the complex asset sales and wind-downs of several businesses. He has also been entrusted to serve as bankruptcy counsel to creditors' committees, debtors, secured lenders, critical vendors, commercial landlords, asset purchasers and defendants in many preference and fraudulent transfer actions. Hull received his bachelor's degree from The Evergreen State College and University of Maine School of Law, summa cum laude.

Misti Munster, a member of Verrill Dana's Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Group, is involved in all aspects of counseling employers on benefits and executive compensation matters, from assisting with overall strategy and design to the more nuts and bolts tasks of drafting and advising on day-to-day compliance matters. She also advises clients on benefit plans in mergers and acquisitions and compliance with privacy and data security laws. Munster has particular knowledge in health care reform legislation, benefit plans sponsored by religious employers, and multiple welfare arrangements. She received her bachelor's degree from Yale University and her law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, with honors.

Taylor Neff is a litigation attorney representing large and small companies in complex commercial and intellectual property disputes. Her clients are engaged in the health care, biotechnology, pharma, manufacturing, software, lighting, and telecommunications industries, to name just a few. In addition, she has significant experience in False Claims Act qui tam litigation, having represented health care companies against allegations of improper billing practices and kickback schemes. She received her bachelor's degree from Connecticut College, cum laude, and her law degree from the Vermont Law School, summa cum laude.
