        Carolyn counsels clients for maximizing their national and international intellectual property positions through patent prosecution strategy, patent application preparation and prosecution, patent enforcement and licensing, trademark registration and enforcement, and trade secret protection.

        Carolyn has extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of patents in the chemical engineering, material science, life sciences, chemical and electrochemical, and mechanical and electromechanical arts. Carolyn advises clients on invention patentability and due diligence, and conducts freedom to operate, validity, and infringement analyses. She also advises clients on brand protection including trademark registration and enforcement. Her client base is diverse encompassing individuals; U.S and international early stage to established, small to large scale companies; and universities.

        In addition to her law practice, Carolyn periodically lectures in intellectual property law and advocacy at the Institute of Technology in Deggendorf, Germany, as well as at U.S. institutions and via on-line educational formats.

        Carolyn has more than 20 years of experience as an intellectual property attorney working in law firms in the Boston area including over five years with the intellectual property litigation group of an AmLaw 100 law firm. Prior to practicing law, Carolyn worked as a chemical engineer in research and development, consulting, and private industry in the environmental and energy sectors in the U.S. and in France.

        Carolyn is fluent in French, and enjoys playing jazz piano, sailing, and downhill and Nordic skiing, the latter of which she teaches to the visually impaired. Carolyn is a member the Community Boating, Inc. Organization of Boston, Massachusetts.
