        Licensing Board Complaints

        • Provided defense of providers in complaints to, and investigations by, professional licensing boards involving allegations as to competence, ethics violations, impairment, and violations of regulatory laws

        Medical Negligence Claims

        • Provided defense of health care providers in thousands of claims in several jurisdictions, trying approximately 100 medical negligence claims to verdict, involving virtually every specialty, including anesthesiology, cardiology, emergency medicine, obstetrics, oncology, neonatology, nephrology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and surgery, among others

        Reimbursement and Compliance Reviews

        • Obtained millions of dollars in Medicare reimbursement payments through the complex administrative hearing and judicial review process
        • Successfully defended hospitals and health care providers in administrative and court actions based on government claims of overpayment or billing irregularities

        Risk Management

        • Advise hospitals and health systems regarding protection of peer review and quality assurance processes
        • Conduct analysis of The Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) regulatory requirements
        • Served as counsel regarding application of Health Care Quality Improvement Act, including National Practitioner Data Bank reporting
        • Assessed of risk reduction strategies in use of electronic health records
        • Advise hospitals regarding reporting, responding to subpoenas, and public relations issues involving drug diversion in emergency departments

        White Collar Defense

        • Facilitate investigation of allegations of research misconduct pursuant to the Office of Research Integrity’s requirements
