Verrill’s Business Restructuring and Insolvency Group is nationally recognized for its depth of experience and ability to guide clients through complex financial restructurings and insolvency matters.

Our attorneys devote the bulk of their practices to helping businesses and individuals navigate financial distress, drawing on decades of experience in high-profile Chapter 11 reorganizations, out-of-court workouts, and cross-border proceedings.

The Group has played a central role in some of the most significant bankruptcy cases in the country, including precedent-setting reorganizations, and is known for providing pragmatic and business-minded counsel that balances legal strategy with real-world outcomes. We represent debtors, creditors, committees, trustees, receivers, and fiduciaries across a wide range of industries including manufacturing, retail, transportation, healthcare, technology, and financial services. Our work covers sophisticated Chapter 11 matters, Chapter 15 cross-border cases, litigation involving fraudulent transfer and preference claims, and distressed employee benefit plans.

Collaboration is at the core of the Group’s approach; it frequently works with colleagues in varied legal fields including mergers and acquisitions, litigation, real estate, labor and employment, employee benefits, health care, and environmental law to ensure that clients receive comprehensive advice from every relevant perspective. This interdisciplinary model allows us to deliver creative and cost-effective solutions whether the matter involves a closely held company seeking to reorganize or a multi-national business with creditors and assets across jurisdictions.

Beyond client representation, members of the Group are recognized leaders in the bankruptcy bar. They publish widely, lecture at national conferences, and are active in organizations such as the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, and the American College of Bankruptcy. Many have clerked for U.S. Bankruptcy Court judges and are consistently listed in The Best Lawyers in America© and Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.
