Maye C. Emlein

        Maye uses a thoughtful, passionate, and holistic approach to assist clients in navigating complex environmental and regulatory issues.

        Maye provides comprehensive, methodical, and tailored legal services to clients in all areas of environment law including project permitting; regulatory compliance and enforcement under the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, CERCLA, FIFRA. Maye also works on emerging environmental issues, including PFAS, and regularly assists clients in the Environment, Health, and Safety space and on environmental matters in litigation.  Prior to becoming a lawyer Maye received a Master’s in Public Health and uses this background to inform her approach to providing comprehensive legal services. She considers both the big picture and small details and is unafraid to delve into science and data to better understand client needs.

        During law school, Maye worked as a Student Attorney at the Refugee and Human Rights Clinic representing clients in asylum and naturalization matters.  Maye also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Maine Law Review overseeing the production and publication of two volumes of the Journal. After graduating from law school Maye clerked for the Honorable John A. Woodcock, Jr. of the United States District Court for the District of Maine where she honed her legal research and writing skills and gained valuable insight into the various stages of civil and criminal litigation in a wide variety of legal matters.

        When she’s not working, Maye can be found adventuring with her husband and daughter, reading the latest installment of her favorite mystery series, experimenting with a new recipe, or working on a new creative project.
