Calvin is a seasoned advocate and counselor whose practice includes complex commercial and employment litigation, and government investigations and compliance. Calvin has a meticulous approach to handling his clients’ matters and focuses heavily on their business and personal objectives to develop the most effective strategies from pre-suit to verdict.
Calvin is passionate about his clients by getting to know their businesses from the back office to the C-suite. For matters that must be litigated, Calvin brings to bear over two decades of trial and litigation experience before numerous state and federal courts, arbitrations, and administrative agencies.
Calvin’s commercial litigation practice includes the representation of publicly traded companies, middle market and closely held businesses, and high asset individuals in complex business and civil disputes. His clients encompass numerous industries including, but not limited to, financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, healthcare, technology, energy, and education. His representative matters include the prosecution and defense of a wide range of actions including contract disputes, business torts, unfair trade practices, trade secrets, breaches of fiduciary duty, environmental claims, and fraudulent conveyances. Calvin has significant experience litigating disputes focused on defending and protecting clients on claims of trade secret misappropriation. Calvin’s employment practice includes representing businesses involving violations of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, as well as claims of discrimination and wrongful discharge.
Calvin also represents institutional and individual clients in responding to and defending against federal, state, and administrative governmental investigations and prosecutions, and has extensive experience conducting internal investigations for clients targeted or charged with misconduct. His representative matters include criminal, civil, and administrative enforcement actions in numerous areas including, but not limited to, financial and investor fraud (including matters before the SEC and the CFTC), health care fraud (including matters involving financial billing/audits), public corruption, and environmental and trade regulations. Prior to entering private practice, Calvin served as an assistant district attorney in the Investigations Division for the Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County.
Calvin is Co-Chair of the firm’s Litigation and Trial group, and serves as Partner-in-Charge of its Connecticut offices and as a member of the firm’s Executive Board. Calvin also serves on multiple non-profit boards and is active in numerous bar associations.
