Maine Rural Water Association “Lien On Us”
Join Verrill attorneys Jonathan Dunitz, Sam Hamilton, and Ian Hedges as they present for Maine Rural Water Association’s Lien On Us virtual event, taking place on Wednesday, May 6.
Water and Sewer Districts are permitted to pursue the “lien process”. Learn the four-step process to securing a lien for unpaid rates. Instruction will be provided with the step-by-step process. A properly perfected lien will give a District priority over mortgages and all other liens, except for municipal taxes. It will also result in the transfer of ownership of the property to the District when the lien forecloses. Failure to strictly adhere to the requirements of the statute will negate the lien and eliminate the priority of claims that the District would otherwise benefit. Instruction will be provided with step by step and hands-on guidance in successfully completing the process.
