Navigating Military Leave: What Every Employer Needs to Know

        The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) and state law imposes significant obligations on employers with employees who serve in the military or other uniformed services. In addition, state and federal law provide protected leaves for family members of these employees.  Whether you’re new to military leaves or simply need a refresher, understanding these requirements is essential to staying compliant and supporting your workforce. In this webinar, attorneys Tawny Alvarez, Erik Peters, and Liz Johnston will provide a comprehensive overview of federal and state military leave laws, including:

        • Reemployment rights and the “escalator” principle for returning service members
        • Benefits continuation and reinstatement obligations
        • USERRA’s interaction with FMLA, state leave laws, and employer leave policies
        • Calculating seniority, pension benefits, and other accruals during military leave
        • Documentation requirements and limits on employer inquiries, and
        • Leave and protections available for families of service members.
