Verrill Welcomes Attorney Sam Hamilton to the Firm’s Environmental and Land Use Group

PORTLAND, Maine – Verrill is pleased to welcome Sam Hamilton to the firm’s Environmental and Land Use Group as an associate, resident in the firm’s Portland office.

Hamilton advocates for various private and public sector clients across various settings, including matters before state agencies, the Maine Legislature, and the Executive Branch.

Hamilton’s robust legal practice focuses on environmental and land use matters. Hamilton provides clients in the regulated community with guidance on regulatory compliance, permitting, development, and land use needs. Additionally, he assists clients in crafting or modifying laws and regulations by working as a lobbyist with Verrill’s government relations subsidiary, Maine Street Solutions team. Hamilton is well-versed in presenting Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars on land use matters at both national and local levels.

Before joining Verrill, Hamilton was an associate attorney at a Maine law firm focusing on Economic Development and Government Relations. During law school, he gained valuable experience as a student attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid clinic and completed legal internships with the Maine District Court and District Attorney’s office. Hamilton also served as the research editor for the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Justice Jabar of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and has since argued before the Law Court on behalf of clients.

Hamilton received his law degree with the University of Maine School of Law, and his bachelor's degree from Colby College.
