Verrill Welcomes Attorney William Townshend to Firm’s Private Clients & Fiduciary Services Group

PORTLAND, Maine (August 26, 2022) – Verrill is pleased to welcome William Townshend to the firm’s Private Clients & Fiduciary Services Group as an associate, resident in the firm’s Portland office.

Townshend focuses his practice on all aspects of estate planning, probate administration, and trust administration. Townshend has experience creating and implementing wealth transfer strategies aimed at achieving clients’ dispositive goals in a tax-efficient manner. He also develops succession plans for closely held businesses, advising clients regarding the management of family real estate, and counseling clients in establishing family offices.

Prior to joining Verrill, Townshend worked as an estate planning associate for a general practice law firm in Central Maine. Before moving to Maine, Townshend held the same position at an international law firm focused on domestic and international estate planning. He also clerked for two years at the United States Tax Court in Washington, DC for the Honorable Judge Richard Morrison.

Townshend received his bachelor's degree from The George Washington University and his law degree from the University of Virginia.
