Six Verrill Attorneys named to Westport Magazine’s Top Lawyers in Fairfield County List

WESTPORT, Conn. – Verrill is proud to announce that six of its attorneys have been recognized in Westport Magazine’s list of Top Lawyers in Fairfield County.

The list highlights leading attorneys in a range of practice areas, compiled through a rigorous peer-voting and research process facilitated by DataJoe Research.

Regina Flaherty was honored for her strong real estate practice, covering all aspects of commercial real estate representation. Flaherty works with clients on a wide spectrum of matters, including acquisition, financing, leasing, development, refinancing, management, and disposition of properties in sectors such as multifamily, retail, industrial, office, condominium, and hospitality. Her practice also includes advising on complex partnership and joint venture agreements, as well as assisting with business succession, estate planning, and probate matters.

Cheryl Johnson Cheryl Johnson earned recognition for her diverse business law practice, which spans taxation, entity structuring, business planning, and securities law. Johnson’s extensive experience includes advising on transactional tax matters, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, and financing. She also has a strong focus on exempt organizations, partnership/LLC operations, and business succession planning. She serves clients, outside counsel, and advisors, particularly in investment fund matters, including private equity, hedge funds, and opportunity zone funds. She is also the Partner-in-Charge of Verrill’s Westport office.

Andrew Nevas was recognized for his robust commercial litigation practice. His practice also includes matrimonial and probate litigation. Nevas represents both individual and corporate clients in a variety of cases in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings. He has significant experience in appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Connecticut Supreme Court, and Appellate Court. Nevas is also certified by the State of Connecticut as a Guardian Ad Litem or Attorney for a Minor Child in family law matters.

Sharon Schweitzer was recognized as a top lawyer in the area of wills. Schweitzer’s practice is focused on estate planning, estate administration, probate, and tax exemption. With a broad range of experience, Schweitzer helps clients navigate both personal and business aspects of tax and estate planning, ensuring efficient and effective long-term strategies.

Frank Silvestri Jr. was honored for his years of experience in handling complex commercial disputes, including partnership and corporate controversies, breach of fiduciary duty, and claims related to corporate governance, securities, unfair trade practices, business torts, and real property. He has a strong track record in health care litigation and antitrust claims.

Barbara Young was recognized for her distinguished business law practice, which includes M&A transactions, joint ventures, entity formation and governance, capital financing, securities regulation, and technology licensing. Young serves as outside "in-house" counsel to various business clients, advising on projects and ongoing legal matters.
