Verrill’s Brian Hurley and Lauren Galvin were recently quoted in the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly article titled SJC’s anti-SLAPP ruling will clarify, simplify litigation. In it they discuss the recent Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) decision to return the ‘analytical framework used to administer the state’s anti-SLAPP statute back to a simpler time and more in line with the Legislature’s intent to provide an expeditious way to resolve unmeritorious litigation targeting petitioning activity.’ Brian said he was “gratified that the case could provide the SJC a vehicle to provide “clear guidance” that should be valuable to anti-SLAPP movants and respondents alike.” And Lauren noted that, “not only did the decision clarify and simplify the standard for assessing anti-SLAPP motions, the Duracraft framework is much more tethered to the statute itself.”
