Verrill Partner Kevin J. O’Connell Named Go To Business Transactions Lawyer by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

        Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

Verrill partner Kevin J. O’Connell was recently selected by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as a Go To Business Transactions Lawyer in Massachusetts.

The attorneys featured on this list were nominated by their peers and chosen by a panel from Lawyers Weekly. Massachusetts Go To Lawyers was created in 2020 to highlight leaders in the Massachusetts legal community, and then broken down by practice area.

O’Connell has worked hundreds of deals over the course of a nearly 35-year career, with many of his representative transactions ranging from $25 million to $500 million. As Chair of the firm’s Business Law Group, he maintains a sophisticated and diverse practice with a particular focus on transactional representation, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, the structuring of joint ventures and strategic relationships, and angel, venture, private equity, commercial lender, and other financings.

“We have an incredibly strong group of associates currently, and given our deal flow and my managerial duties, by necessity I’ve given much responsibility to my team, and I’ve been so pleased, but not surprised, by how much our associates have willingly assumed ownership of assignments and relationships, and how well our clients have taken to the increased contact and expanded roles of members of our client service teams,” O’Connell said. “I have always enjoyed, as a transactional attorney, quarterbacking deals and assisting clients to meet their business objectives, but lately I am enjoying teaching as much as doing.”

Since 2017, O’Connell has served as Partner in Charge of Verrill’s Boston office.

O’Connell received his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross and his law degree from Boston College Law School.
