        Verrill Welcomes Experienced Business Law Attorney David M. Austin to the Firm

        PORTLAND, Maine —Verrill is pleased to welcome David M. Austin to the firm as Partner residing in the firm’s Portland office.

        Austin has nearly 30 years of experience acting as trusted legal counsel to a variety of businesses, from new ventures to some of Maine’s largest and most well-known organizations, on a wide range of transactional and corporate law matters.

        “Verrill’s collaborative culture and deep-rooted history in Maine made the growing firm a perfect fit for me,” explained Austin. “At Verrill, I look forward to serving my clients as I have for years but with new and expanded capacity to meet their evolving needs at home and throughout New England.”

        Austin works with clients across a variety of industry sectors, including construction, timberlands and forest products, aquaculture, engineering and professional services firms, employee owned companies and many more. He has years of experience advising companies with mergers and acquisitions, governance, commercial contracts, debt and equity financings, and stockholder relations. Austin also provides counsel to shareholders and other business owners regarding a variety of issues related to strategic growth, succession planning, and business transition issues.

        Austin is an active member of the Maine business community. Prior to joining Verrill, Austin was a partner at a Maine-based law firm, including serving as President and Managing Partner of the firm for more than a decade.

        “Not only is David an esteemed member of Maine’s legal and business communities, but also brings a wealth of experience to the firm, providing additional value to our clients,” said Scott Anderson, Verrill’s Managing Partner. “We are excited to have him as one of the newest members of our growing firm.”

        Austin received his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Maine.
