Andrew has more than 17 years of experience assisting major healthcare entities and businesses in other market sectors in navigating a range of complex legal issues and transactional matters. Andrew blends academic rigor with practical experience to help clients reach their goals and find solutions to challenging problems. His legal experience encompasses a wide spectrum, including day-to-day business operations, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, contractual matters, corporate governance, telehealth, healthcare privacy (HIPAA) and Information Blocking (Cures Act), patient rights, academic affiliations, and proficiency in healthcare transaction oversight, approval and licensure for new ventures, changes of ownership, construction projects, renewals and service line changes, service closures, drug control and laboratory registration, payor enrollment, and the Determination of Need process. He is also experienced in buy-side and sell-side transactions.
Andrew’s client roster includes large hospital networks and health systems, private equity companies, major universities, clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, urgent care providers, digital health companies, life sciences companies, imaging facilities, physician groups, nursing homes, hospices, home health agencies, behavioral health providers, trade associations, individual practitioners, and other business entities. Recognized for his adept communication and problem-solving skills, Andrew has successfully negotiated deals and fostered cooperation among clients, third parties, and government agencies, including the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Health Policy Commission, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and MassHealth.
Amidst the significant challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Andrew showcased adaptability and strategic thinking, providing crucial counsel on emergency orders, health protocol guidance, testing procedures, infection reporting, and the establishment of field hospitals.
Andrew also focuses on the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across healthcare and other key industries. By following market trends and regulatory developments, he provides clients with strategic, actionable insights into how AI is reshaping operations, compliance obligations, contract negotiations, and risk exposure and mitigation, helping them stay ahead of the curve and navigate the legal and ethical complexities of AI integration. Andrew is a founding member of the Firm’s Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies Group and a member of the Firm’s AI Committee.
