Scott D. Anderson
Managing Partner
Scott leads Verrill in its strategic growth and client value initiatives as the firm’s Managing Partner.
Under Scott’s leadership, the firm has not only grown significantly in both headcount and capabilities but has also made great strides to modernize and expand more regionally. Scott is responsible for carrying on the firm’s long legacy as a prominent New England law firm, while simultaneously anticipating and adapting to the rapidly changing environment for mid-sized law firms.
Client service and value are at the core of Scott’s initiatives, building on his predecessors’ years of stewardship and tactical growth, while ensuring the enduring profitability and strength of the venerable institution. He treats his role much like his law practice – as one member of a skilled team of professionals – including the firm’s attorneys and professional staff.
Prior to becoming Managing Partner, Scott practiced utility, energy, and environmental law at Verrill for more than two decades, first as an associate and then as an equity partner. He has served on several firm committees, including its Executive Board, and led or participated in numerous initiatives including revamping the partner compensation system, setting the firm’s strategic plan, and enhancing and modernizing the operation of the firm’s practice group structure.
When not obsessed with his efforts to ensure the success of Verrill’s clients and professionals, he attempts to ski like he did in his 20s and he works with his young son to understand the value of Minecraft and Tik Tok. And he plays the fiddle. That’s right, the fiddle.
