Verrill Welcomes Seven Attorneys, Significantly Expanding its Connecticut Presence and Marking Major Growth in Key Services in the Region

WESTPORT and GREENWICH, Connecticut – Verrill is pleased to announce the addition of seven attorneys and three professional staff members in Connecticut.

Joining the firm are seven highly regarded attorneys formerly associated with Connecticut-based law firm, Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan LLC.

        • Andrew W. Nelson and Mark McEnroe join as Partners, along with Eleni Choephel and Justin D. Wade as Associates, in the firm’s Business Law Group. As members of the group, they will continue to represent clients in a broad range of corporate matters, including private equity and venture capital funds, investors, and business entities in a wide range of industries related to general corporate matters, financings, and transactions, among other areas.
        • Harry E. Peden III and Kevin A. Walsh join as Partners in the firm’s Private Clients and Fiduciary Services Group, continuing to represent individuals and business entities in connection with business, financial and corporate law matters, in addition to tax planning and trust and estate matters.
        • James C. Riley joins as a Partner in the Trial Group, representing businesses and individuals in a wide range of matters, including multi-million-dollar contract disputes and related tort claims, construction disputes, employment-related disputes, and First Amendment matters.

“Verrill’s strong commitment and team approach to client service was very attractive to us and will enable us to enhance the services that we provide to our clients and to expand our client base,” noted Andrew Nelson. Harry Peden and Kevin Walsh added that “Verrill’s commitment to further develop its presence in Connecticut to serve our existing clients located in Greenwich and the Lower Fairfield County was an important part of our decision to join the firm. We are very much looking forward to introducing our new Verrill colleagues to our existing clients and contacts.”

This expansion significantly enhances Verrill’s presence in the Fairfield County area with the opening of a second Connecticut office located at 500 West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich. This new office, in addition to the firm’s existing Westport office, reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to serving both individual and business clients in the region. The group brings extensive experience in business law and litigation, with a proven track record of advising clients across a wide range of industries, and decades of experience in estate and tax planning and administration. The group’s addition represents a strategic step forward in strengthening the firm’s capabilities and deepening its support for clients throughout the local community.

“We are thrilled to welcome this talented group of professionals to Verrill,” said Scott D. Anderson, Managing Partner of Verrill. “Their collective experience and deep roots in Fairfield County align perfectly with our vision for strategic growth and our continued commitment to providing exceptional service to our clients.”

While Verrill first entered Connecticut in 2010, this year marks the 10th anniversary of its combination with Connecticut-based law firm Levett Rockwood.

“It is an exciting time for the firm,” explained Cheryl L. Johnson, Partner in Charge of the firm’s Westport office. “As we look back on our 15 years in the state and 10 years since our combination with Levett Rockwood, we celebrate the joining of our new colleagues and look forward to continued growth in the state leveraging our colleagues’ Greenwich and Lower Fairfield County contacts and providing superior service to each and every client.”
