Verrill Adds Three Experienced Attorneys to the Firm’s Healthcare and Life Sciences Industry Group

BOSTON, Massachusetts – Verrill is pleased to welcome Andrew Ferrer, Partner, and Associates Amanda Beauregard and Rachna Vyas to the firm’s Healthcare and Life Sciences’ Group, all resident in the firm’s Boston office.

Ferrer has more than 15 years of experience assisting major healthcare entities in navigating a range of complex legal issues of importance in the healthcare industry. These include regulatory compliance, contractual matters, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, privacy (HIPAA), patient rights and academic affiliations. He has significant experience in assisting clients with healthcare licensing matters for new ventures, construction/renovations, navigating the Determination of Need process, renewals, and service line changes, such as plan review, survey and licensure, ownership transfers, essential service closures, drug control registration, laboratory registration, and payor enrollment. Ferrer has represented large hospital networks and health systems, clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, satellite emergency facilities, urgent care providers, imaging facilities, physician groups, nursing homes, hospices, home health agencies, trade associations, and individual practitioners. Recognized as a creative and efficient problem-solver, Ferrer has successfully guided clients through interactions with various federal and state government agencies, such as the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Centers for Medicare, and Medicaid Services, and MassHealth. Ferrer received his bachelor's degree from Williams College, and his law degree from Boston College Law School.

Beauregard has represented healthcare clients before state and federal regulatory bodies like the Department of Public Health, the Centers for Medicare, and Medicaid Services, and MassHealth, as well as the Commonwealth’s various boards of registration in health professions. She is especially knowledgeable in navigating clients through the complex Determination of Need regulatory process, covering areas such as construction, new and expanded services, medical imaging technology, ownership transfers, conservation projects, transfers of site, and research exemptions. Beauregard has extensive experience in plan review, survey and licensure, essential service closures, and Medicare and MassHealth enrollment matters. Her legal experience also covers general business and corporate services, including healthcare privacy, patient rights, and the development of policies and procedures, as well as legislative and regulatory rulemaking services. Beauregard received her bachelor's degree from Providence College, and her law degree from Suffolk University Law School.

Vyas’ practice focuses on defending healthcare and life sciences clients in investigations and litigation, as well as non-health care white collar defense and complex civil litigation. Vyas regularly works with large institutional clients, including universities, research institutions, hospital systems, and pharmaceutical distributors. She represents clients in government and internal investigations, enforcement proceedings, hearings, and trials involving the False Claims Act, healthcare fraud, the Department of Justice’s China Initiative, and other civil and criminal matters at both the federal and state levels. Her practice additionally includes defending individuals under criminal investigation by the federal government in connection with alleged sanction and export control violations, national security offenses, and fraud. She also advises clients on compliance issues involving federal and state health care regulations and civil litigation matters. Vyas earned her bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, and her law degree from the University of California Berkeley School of Law.
