Junior Floating Legal Assistant

Boston, MA

Verrill is actively reviewing resumes for a Junior Floating Legal Assistant for our Boston office.

This position is an entry level full time position. The Junior Floating Legal Assistant is responsible for performing administrative functions in support of a group of Attorneys and other Legal Assistants. Duties of the Junior Floating Legal Assistant include but are not limited to, proofreading, document production, timekeeping, maintaining files, and occasional reception coverage.

The successful candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, excellent computer skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Styles), and attention to detail. Applicants should have strong administrative skills and must have the ability to prioritize tasks successfully. Flexible, positive and hardworking attitude required. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the role of a Junior Floating Legal Assistant within a full-service law firm environment.

This position is designed to be a full-time position. The successful candidate will be the primary expert on the applications and systems he or she is assigned to support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues. Typical responsibilities include application operation and troubleshooting, technical research, configuring and troubleshooting hardware, and audio/video equipment support. This position includes training of attorneys and staff, either one on one or as an instructor in our internal technical training program when appropriate. Previous help desk experience is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional technical and organizational skills and the ability to learn independently. A college degree in computer science, information technology or related field is preferred. A commitment to providing superior customer service is essential. Candidates must enjoy problem solving and working with others to find effective solutions to computer related issues. The successful applicant will have an understanding of the role of the IT department within a full-service law firm environment.

The firm's Health Care & Life Sciences Group serves a broad range of clients, including hospitals and health systems; academic medical centers; ACOs, PHOs, IPAs, and similar organizations; health plans and managed care organizations; pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies; and other prominent entities in the health care industry. The Health Care & Life Sciences Group includes a subgroup of lawyers with particular expertise in academic and clinical research.

Applicants must have at least two years of experience, top academic credentials, strong writing and analytical skills, and high personal standards of performance. Preferred candidates will have significant experience in diverse areas of health care law, including, for example, privacy laws including HIPAA, HITECH, GDPR, and CCPA; corporate transactions; the federal anti-kickback statute, Stark law, and other fraud and abuse laws; physician contracting; and managed care. Knowledge of research law (including human subjects protection, clinical trials contracting, research compliance and misconduct, biospecimen and data repositories, federal grant systems, and FDA regulatory compliance) is a plus.

The Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer will be responsible for planning, oversight, and implementing a wide variety of marketing and business development initiatives aimed at raising the profile of the firm and enabling Verrill attorneys to build client relationships and generate new business. The Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer will be responsible for the execution of supporting the business and strategic goals of the firm's practice groups through developing and implementing strategic marketing and branding initiatives, including digital marketing, internal communications, public relations and advertising. The Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer will work closely with senior leadership to manage marketing operations of the firm while leveraging firm wide resources, including aligning internal communications with external branding and messaging.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic and results-oriented marketing professional with at least eight years of experience working in marketing and business development within a law firm or other professional services environment.
