Verrill Dana Hosts E2Tech Networking Event
On Tuesday, July 26, more than a hundred professionals gathered outside in Verrill Dana's courtyard in Portland, Maine for the E2Tech Summer Networking Reception. Attendees included numerous area businesses, government officials, professionals, and non-profit leaders from across the state within the energy and environmental sectors. Verrill Dana partner Kelly Baetz, of the firm's Environmental Group, is a board member of E2Tech. Verrill Dana partner Jim Cohen, of the firm's Utilities and Energy Group, welcomed guests to the event.
The reception included more than 20 young African leaders from the Mandela Washington Fellowship Energy Institute. In partnership with the University of Maine and the Maine International Trade Center, the Fellows were able to join the event and learn more about what Maine is doing to support E2Tech's mission to stimulate economic growth in the environmental, energy and clean technology sectors.
Earlier this year, the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders selected the University of Maine as one of 37 institutional partners across the country and one of only 12 that are hosting Public Management Institutes for the Fellows. Those in attendance at the E2Tech event are members of a group of 25 young adults from Sub-Sarah Africa whom are participating in a six-week academic and leadership institute at the University as outlined on their website. This is the first year that a focus on energy is being offered through the program.
