Verrill attorney Elizabeth Johnston recently authored an article for Law360 entitled, NLRB’s Ruling on BLM Buttons Holds Employer Lessons. In it she discusses a recent ruling from a National Labor Relations Board judge stating, ‘two companies violated federal labor law when they banned employees from wearing Black Lives Matter buttons in 2020.’ This ruling, and ones similar to it, emphasizes the importance of workplace dress and policy considerations that employers must take.
